On Thursday 30 March, we welcomed Year 5 and 6 instrumental and choral music students from our partnership primary schools (Rangeville SS, Middle Ridge SS, Gabbinbar SS and Withcott SS) for a Music Immersion Day. The visiting students were given the opportunity to participate in a day of workshops with our concert band, string orchestra and our mixed voices choir. They were mentored by our older students and specialist instrumental and choral directors. The students were also provided a classroom music experience. The day culminated in a community concert where families enjoyed performances by each of these combined ensembles as well as some featured performances by the Centenary Heights SHS specialist ensembles. We are extremely thankful for the support and contributions of the music staff from these partnership primary schools – Mr Henry, Mr Smith, Mrs Otto, Mr Poole, Mrs Elsworth and Mr Clyde.
This year we are celebrating the fabulous work of some of the well-deserving musicians involved in our string, band and choral programs. We will be selecting awardees at the end of each term this year and were excited to present certificates to the first of our awardees at the Music Immersion Day Community Concert. Congratulations to Verity Russell, Mali Dawson and Joshua David who were awarded Most Outstanding Performers for Term 1, and Archie Milne, Oliver Cann and Xavier Reibelt who were awarded the Crescendo Award for commitment and enthusiasm.
