The academic, community participation and sporting achievements of our students were celebrated at our annual Awards Ceremonies, held in the Caldwell Performing Arts Centre on Tuesday 20 October.
In this year of COVID-19, restrictions placed on Queensland State Schools meant this year’s Awards Ceremony could not be held in its usual format at the HumeRidge Centre, and parents/carers were unable to attend to witness their student's success. Only the recipients, Heads of Year and several invited guest presenters were present.
The Junior Ceremony (Years 7, 8 and 9) was held in the morning, followed by the Senior Ceremony (Years 10, 11 and 12) in the afternoon. Both ceremonies were filmed and are available for your family to view from home.
Our Awards Ceremonies are an opportunity for the outstanding achievements of our students to be acknowledged in the presence of their peers, and we congratulate them on the hard work that has led to their successes.
Principal Ms Walsh also announced and introduced both the 2021 Junior and Senior Captains during the ceremonies.
Three of our academic awards were not announced at the Senior Awards Ceremony. The Dux, R A Dansie Science Award and the BD Jentz Humanities Research Award were not announced due to the academic criteria of the awards and to ensure the accuracy of calculating these awards including the external exams results. These awards will be announced in February 2021 at the Year 12 Badge and Gold Level Ceremony.
