Over the weekend we hosted the Darling Downs State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) that is run by Griffith University Young Conservatorium. The SHEP program connects student musicians with a team of eminent national conductors in pursuit of musical excellence. Nineteen of our students participated in this program and were involved in each of the three ensembles – vocal ensemble, string ensemble and wind ensemble. The weekend of music workshops culminated in two concerts on Sunday afternoon that showcased the performances of each of these ensembles. We are excited about this partnership with Griffith University and the Conservatorium of Music and the opportunities that this affords.
