The School Based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN) program is a program aimed at assisting individuals and the whole of school community to improve their health and wellbeing and deal with any barriers that may present. The SBYHN program provides both individual and small group consultations. A confidentiality agreement is formed between the young person and the SBYHN. There are some exceptions to this agreement, but this will be discussed with the young person upon introduction.
The SBYHN also provides relevant health promotion and education to the school community with the aim to address the contemporary and relevant health needs of young people.
There are many areas that the SBYHN program can assist you with. Some of these are mental health and wellbeing, general health and wellbeing including nutrition and physical activity, healthy relationships, sexual health, family and personal relationships, growth and development, smoking, alcohol and other drugs.
The SBYHN (Indy) is available Tuesday to Friday and may be contacted via the school office, the SBYHN office in J Block or the school email iknop0@eq.edu.au
If you have any concerns or questions please don’t hesitate to contact Indy our SBYHN.
