About the Program
Centenary Heights State High School offers a
highly regarded Music Excellence Program.
Students with a proven interest and aptitude
in either vocal or instrumental music may
apply for a position in the Year 7 Music
Excellence class.
Students selected will form one of our Year 7
classes for 2025 and will be provided with
opportunities to immerse in music
knowledge and skills, both instrumentally
and vocally.
During Year 7, students are engaged in one
Music lesson a week for the entire year. In
Year 8, students will participate in the core
Music subject for a term as well as one Music
lesson for the remainder of the year.
There is a particular emphasis on developing
performance skills and it is a requirement of
the program that students will participate in
either the Instrumental Music or Choral
Program.
Students who wish to be considered for the
Music Excellence program will be required to
participate in an audition process.
Please Note:
Students do not have to be a member of our
Music Excellence Classes to be involved in
the Instrumental Music or Choral Program.
Application Criteria
Applications can be submitted for students in Grade 6 with
an approximate Instrumental Music Level 2 and above or
