School Nurse

The School Based Youth Health Nurse's role within the school encompasses:
  • Providing confidential health consultations for students, parents and school staff and referring clients to other health and welfare professionals as appropriate.
  • Providing students and staff with relevant health promotion and education resources with the aim of addressing the many contemporary health and social issues facing adolescents and their families.
  • Supporting students and staff on a range of health issues relevant to young people within the classroom and the curriculum.

For students who may need support, your right to confidentiality is respected but there are some things that are required to be referred or acted upon.  Please discuss what can be expected about confidentiality with your Youth Health Nurse.  This will only take a moment.

Topics regarding your health and overall wellbeing are: healthy eating, physical activity, feelings of unhappiness or being stressed, relationships, healthy skin, person/family problems, growth/development, sexual health, smoking, alcohol and other drugs.

The School Based Youth Health Nurse is available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and may be contacted through the school office in school hours.

You can visit www.kidshelp.com.au for more help and information.  Lifeline can also be contacted on 131 114 and provides a range of services.
