Student leadership 2018

Ruby Sanders
School Captain
It is an absolute privilege to be selected as the School Captain for Centenary Heights State High School in 2018. In this position, I hope to lead by example with a positive influence and grow not only as a leader, but also as a person. I will treat each and every member of our school community equally, no matter where they fit into the world and I promise to show respect, to inspire and to encourage. As a leader, I will uphold the exceptional reputation our wonderful school has built over the years and maintain the attitudes, beliefs and values of Centenary Heights State High School. I look forward to all the joy and opportunities 2018 will bring and am incredibly grateful to be given this opportunity to make a difference.

Nicholas von Xanten
School Captain
As School Captain of 2018, it is an honour to represent the school and uphold the values and beliefs that our previous leaders have carried throughout the past years. I believe that every student at Centenary Heights is unique and I am excited to lead such a diverse and wonderful school. Throughout the year ahead I hope to encourage all students to strive for their potential and achieve the most enjoyable year possible. Centenary Heights has such a colourful culture and welcoming atmosphere which will continue to thrive through our students and the leadership team of 2018. I look forward to the year ahead and working with the student body and teachers.
Briannah de Joux
School Vice-Captain
To me leadership is a constant aspiration. There will be mistakes made as I am not perfect, barriers and challenges I may not overcome straight away, therefore I cannot promise you perfection. What I do promise is persistence through both the easy and hard times and obstacles. I promise a resilience and determination to achieve greatness for and with the team of CHSHS, for I believe it is what a person will do, has done and will do again that makes a leader.
My dad has always told me that “actions speak louder than words” but I want my words to motivate my actions and hopefully inspire someone else’s. In the year of 2018, I will strive to learn from the mistakes I make and to not see challenges as road blocks but as opportunities. I will also strive to inspire and engage my peers as they are the leaders of our future, to be innovative and even unconventional. With the help of Kenzo Chooi, Ruby Sanders, and Nick Von Xanten, I will strive to make Centenary Heights State High School’s 50th year, a propitious one.
I’m truly grateful to be placed in a position where there’s ample opportunity to grow as a leader and as an individual and will give everything I have to it.

Jun Khai Choo
School Vice-Captain
It is an absolute honour to have the opportunity to be appointed as one of the School Vice-Captains for 2018. In the coming year, I hope to grow as both a person and leader and inspire others to grow alongside with me. As a school Vice-Captain, I intend to make Centenary Heights State High School a friendly and welcoming place for both new and current students. I look forward to working alongside others in the leadership group as well as the teachers in this school to ensure that this goal is achieved and I hope that together, we can make 2018 the best that it can be.
