Year 8 student Chloe Moore competed in the South West Queensland Final of the Rostrum Voice of Youth Public Speaking Competition on Saturday 12 May. She was supported by teachers Matt Russell and Sarah Sykes as well as her family.
It was an absolute joy to see Chloe speak passionately about her topic, ‘Proud to be different.’ As the first speaker, she had the daunting task of warming up the audience, but she spoke what we saw as a flawless rendition of her heartfelt message with purpose and drive.
She did not progress to the next round, though I think this was with some relief for Chloe as the next level of competition requires a three minute impromptu speech in addition to her six minute planned speech. Perhaps a challenge for next year!
