The OP (Overall Position) results from our six students who graduated in 2017 were awesome! One of our wonderful students, Ruxin, achieved an amazing OP 1. Altogether, all six students achieved results within the top seven. One of our students, Karry from China, who achieved an OP 3, also has her artwork featured on the back cover of our school’s 2018 diary.
Sei, from South Korea, who achieved an OP 6, began her studies at Centenary Heights State High School as a young Year 8 student back in 2013. Sei embraced her life here in Australia, getting involved in the school community and making many lifelong friendships. Some of Sei’s achievements include: 2017 Cross-Cultural Captain; 2017 Year 7 Camp Leader; 2016 International Student Ambassador; 2016 Interact Club International Director, and 2016 ISP Mentor. Sei also participated in other school activities such as Harmony Day celebrations and was a buddy for visiting Study Tour students. Sei is now studying Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) at the University of Queensland.
At the beginning of this year, we welcomed six new students, two from Japan, two from Brazil, one from Germany and one from India.
On March 27, Centenary Heights State High School celebrated Harmony Day. It was a wonderful celebration of the diversity of cultures in our school.
On March 28, we took our International students, as well as a few of our mentors, on a day trip to see some of the sights in Brisbane. This included a visit to the Queensland Museum, a ride on the Brisbane Wheel, lunch at Southbank, a ride on the Brisbane River in one of the City Hoppers, a visit to the Queen Street Mall in Brisbane City and a trip up to Mt Coot-tha lookout to admire the views over Brisbane. What a great day.
